Events

XCR

XCR is Athletics Victoria’s Winter competition season featuring Cross Country, Road and Relay Events.

There are various race distances throughout the season, and competitions occur across Victoria.

AVSL

AVSL is a Summer Track and Field competition. Athletes represent their club in weekly rounds held at athletics tracks across Victoria.

Championships

Championships are standalone competitions where athletes compete for State and National titles. These events cover a range of disciplines and age groups.

These events represent the highest level of competition within Victoria and Australia.

Specialist meets

Specialist Meets focus on specific disciplines such as distance running, relays or field events. These competitions are ideal for athletes looking to specialise in an event or events.

Categories & Age Groups

In many AV competitions, athletes compete either in age groups or are seeded by time to ensure fair and competitive competition.

Seeding by performance allows athletes across ages to compete at a similar ability level, creating closer competition. It is a great way to explore competition tactics and push for new PBs!

Para athletes may compete within their classification, depending on the event.

Entering events

Entering events occurs through Athletics Victoria, varying slightly depending on competition type. Some events require athletes to enter individually before each round, while others may involve club-managed entries or team selections.

MPAC members are notified of upcoming competitions and entry requirements, and guidance is available for those entering events for the first time.

Athletics Victoria manages official event calendars, entries, rules and results for all Inter-club competitions and Championship events. These details are updated regularly and provide the most accurate and current information available.
